The Mater Dei High School Expansion Project required the acquisition of 19 parcels to accommodate a new parking structure and the expansion of a ball field. Interwest began the project by focusing on the critical path schedule milestones and addressing the school’s requirements for day-to-day coordination with staff and governing authorities. We proposed a proactive approach in the first 45 days and completed an Acquisition Analysis Report for the purpose of implementing a strategic acquisition plan. This led to our staff completing detailed interviews with each available property owner to identify problem areas or obstacles with each parcel. Armed with this knowledge, we were able to successfully advise the Diocese on the specific “triggers” that would result in the property owner voluntarily entering into a sales transaction with Mater Dei. After confirming the project’s viability, we entered into negotiations with each property owner on a case-by-case basis to address their specific concerns.
