Interwest has been contracted to provide landscape architecture, planning and design services to create a new regional sports park for the City of Palm Desert in California.

As part of the Millennium Specific Plan, the regional park aspires to create new recreational opportunities and activities for the thriving community in the Coachella Valley. Interwest’s design approach goals for the project include to:

  • Highlight a unique opportunity to create an amazing and safe public space.
  • Set a benchmark for a transparent project planning and delivery.
  • Engage residents into the design process.
  • Embrace diversity of public perspectives.
  • Create opportunities for wildlife habit and natural landscape for resiliency and water conservation.

The North Sphere Regional Park has acquired funds from the Proposition 68, also known as State of California Parks and Water Bond 2018 which aims to create financial resources for parks in urban and disadvantaged communities.

The City awarded the contract to Interwest Consulting Group who is co-chairing the project with its sister company Calvin, Giordano & Associates, Inc. (CGA), a multidisciplinary firm offering a broad range of professional services, most distinctively, its Landscape Architecture and Urbanism division. With 85 years of experience in creating award-winning projects, CGA brings a wealth of design expertise to the Interwest ‘s exceptionally talented Land Development team.

The project is currently under design phase and has already conducted a public outreach event for the community (December 2022).
