Mike Kashiwagi, PE

Chief Operations Officer

“Choosing service over self-interest.”

Mike has over 40 years of experience in municipal engineering in both the public and private sectors. In addition to his responsibilities as COO, Mike continues to provide support to city managers and elected officials, as well as the communities they serve, on public works programs, policies, activities, and projects. His extensive knowledge of the Public Works industry allows him to help our clients achieve the successful implementation of high priority projects, the creation and execution of important programs, initiatives, and key public policies, and the enhancement of service delivery.

Mike received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from UC Berkeley, was named the Top Ten Public Works Leader of 2001 by the American Public Works Association, and received the James L. Martin Award from the California League of Cities in 2004, but the accomplishment he is most proud of is leading an organization that truly values and appreciates people. He strives to make Interwest a place where people feel supported rather than managed and where people feel they can personally make a difference. He is proud to work with individuals who set high personal standards for themselves and who are supported in their decisions to make the right choices for our clients.

When he’s not at work, Mike enjoys golfing and attending Cal Football games, as well as traveling to vibrant urban environments, from New York to Milan.
