By hiring the best of the best in the field, Interwest has had the opportunity to utilize the unique skillset and expertise of our EM team as an internal resource for Interwest and our employees, and as experts in the industry providing curated workshops and seminars for our professional affiliates.
The Interwest Emergency Management (EM) team specializes in providing disaster plan writing, EOC training, exercise design, staff augmentation, and grant management services to cities, counties, special districts, and tribal nations across California. Our EM team is made up of expert practitioners, led by Jacob Green and Tony Coletta, who have been deeply involved with disaster response for more than 30 years at the local, regional, state, national, and international level.
Here’s a snapshot of what’s on the horizon for the EM Team:
APWA Emergency Management Best Practice for Public Works Professionals
The APWA has invited Interwest’s Veteran Emergency Managers Tony Coletta and Jacob Green to lead a workshop for Public Works officials and staff, focusing on the crucial role they play in disaster response and recovery and all phases of emergency management. Attendees will walk away with a “to-do list” of actionable steps they can take to prepare their home organization for the next community crisis and be better postured to provide critical services during the response and recovery phase of a disaster.
The workshop will be live on May 6th. If you are interested in attending, follow Interwest on LinkedIn for updates.
Developing the “Field Safety Guide – A Guide for Working, Operating, and Interacting Safely in Diverse Environments”
Initially designed with our Real Estate Division in mind but effective for any on-site personnel, this training was developed as a tool to further empower the professional members of Interwest to operate safely and securely when conducting operational activities in the field. Our public safety team has designed and developed a comprehensive safety training manual and associated training program for our personnel, client partners, and the residents and business we serve.
“All work involves inherent risks. In providing this comprehensive safety guide and training to our field personnel, we strive to minimize the risks that they face daily, while maximizing their safety in providing client services.” says program designer, Tony Coletta.
When combined with sound operating principles and a keen sense of situational awareness, the Field Safety Guide provides tools and techniques for discussing risk while increasing the readiness to thwart threats to one’s personal safety and security.
