Collision Analysis

Interwest can conduct collision analysis for both intersections and segments within your jurisdiction. Software, such as Crossroads, has been used for other agencies. Interwest can also coordinate the engineering aspects of Automated Red Light Enforcement with your local law enforcement department.

General Traffic Investigations and Data Collection

Interwest can investigate and collect data regarding traffic safety. Our personnel has participated in public outreach programs through neighborhood and city council meetings and can also handle day to day inquiries from the public through the internet or by phone.

Operation and Maintenance of the Transportation Management Center

Transportation Management Centers (TMC) can remotely operate and monitor traffic signal operations for local agencies. Personnel are notified of malfunctions and can make changes to signal timing without going to the intersection. Interwest can operate and maintain your existing TMC. We coordinate and oversee the personnel that sets signal timing and maintenance policies or we can create these policies as needed for approval.

Plan Check for Both Public and Private Projects

Our staff can be hired to review both public and private plans to check adherence to federal, state, and local agency requirements and guidelines.

Resolution Speed Limit Program

Interwest can help collect and prepare speed surveys, traffic count, collision history, and field observation data along with the staff reports necessary to establish proper speed limits for your agency. We can also maintain and update the system as necessary to accommodate growth.

Site Plan Review

Interwest has served as the contract City Traffic Engineer for various agencies and can review aspects such as driveway spacing, driveway width, driveway throat length, parking capacity, aisle widths, drive-through storage, onsite circulation, and potential visibility obstruction by proposed landscaping. Identifying and resolving site layout flaws prior to entitlement can prevent ongoing problems following construction.

Traffic Impact Studies

Large, medium, and even small developments may require analysis of potential traffic impacts to the public street system. Interwest has experience in the associated data collection, field observation, analysis, and presentation of traffic impact studies.  We can help develop work scopes, review submitted studies, and prepare development conditions of approval to implement identified mitigation measures.

Traffic Control Design/Review

The need to provide thorough, realistic, and clear traffic control plans grows as the awareness of the safety and liability risks associated with traffic control zones increases.
Interwest can prepare traffic control plans that comply with all federal and government current standards. We can also review plans that are submitted by others.

Traffic Calming

Traffic calming has become a major issue for local agencies. The primary goal is to provide increased safety for local citizens. Slowing down vehicles through residential neighborhoods using a combination of educational and engineering traffic calming measures and coordinating with law enforcement have been shown to provide the best results.
Interwest can consult with local agencies in planning, development, design, or implementation of traffic calming programs. This program can be implemented as separate projects through your capital improvement program or incorporated into private development through the plan check process.

Traffic Signal Design

Our staff has experience in designing traffic signals using state-of-the-art technology including the incorporation of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment.

Traffic Signal Timing

Interwest can manage signal timing projects on an individual or corridor basis. We also perform follow up field adjustments, which are necessary to ensure an individual or corridor timing plan is maximized to fit the physical environment along with citizens who are using the roadway.

Traffic Signing, Striping Design and Review

Interwest is experienced and available to design or review signing and striping plans for municipalities. We utilize MUTCD and/or local standards to ensure consistency throughout your agency and adjacent jurisdictions.
