Development of City-Wide Intranet
Elk Grove, CA

At the City of Elk Grove, there was a dire need for a central location from which to communicate and share information both internally and externally with the staff at the City. There were multiple places to find the same information which was causing confusion. Interwest IT created a centralized Intranet to host all of that information in one accessible place. Templates, forms, policies and procedures, current events, and staff information were all placed in one location.

A pictorial staff directory was created to familiarize staff with each other. Surveys were created to eliminate the need for paying an external company to host them on behalf of the City. When the City of Elk Grove went through a re-branding process, all of the new logos and templates were placed for general use on one centralized Intranet page with clear directions on their use. Intranets can be a wonderful and powerful tool that can bring information and staff together in a professional and fun way.

As the City of Wildomar entered into cityhood in 2008, Interwest IT was there every step of the way. From getting email addresses started in a matter of minutes, to establishing a temporary office with IT infrastructure that easily transferred to a more permanent location. Interwest IT assists with handheld devices, file storage, remote access, website assistance, phone systems and network infrastructure. As the City continues to develop and grow, we are there to assist as the need arrises. Creating an IT infrastructure can be an intimidating process, especially in the ever changing world of technology. Expanding Company Communications

Interwest Consulting Group started as a small consulting company. As we have grown and expanded over several states, our own IT needs have changed. With staff in multiple locations, it was a challenge to share information and files in an effective manner, so we decided to centralize our information. By creating a Citrix system that allows remote access to the company network and files from anywhere you can access the Internet we've made ourselves more efficient and created an opportunity to better communicate with each other. Interwest employees can access company resources from just about anywhere. It has allowed our satellite offices to be connected to the entire company and it has made it easier to support those staff remotely. It also allows our employees more flexibility when traveling or working on multiple projects with different people at the same time.
